A presentation intended for non-catalogers on Resource Description and Access (RDA), the proposed new cataloging code. It includes a brief description of the issues and events that have led to the formulation of RDA, followed by a few concepts that are fundamental to understanding RDA, such as FRBR. To give the audience a “first taste” of the differences that they will see as RDA records appear in an online catalog, there are side-by-side examples of AARC2 and RDA bibliographic records as they appear in OPAC display. This is followed by a discussion of display and retrieval issues that are foreseen. Finally, there will is an examination of RDA implementation issues.
